Atatürk International Airport

Atatürk International Airport

Being the biggest airport of Turkey in Istanbul, Ataturk International Airport was reported to be the eighth busiest airport in 2010 in Europe. It is located 24 km to the west of the city in the European side. There are many options to fly to long-haul destinations, like New York, San Diego, Beijing, and Melbourne. It has also a domestic terminal where you can find flights to the majority of other cities in Turkey.

Passengers usually do not have any problem in parking their cars since there are open car parking area and multi-storey park area.

Transportation from the airport to various routes around the city is convenient. Havas Shuttle Bus service is one of the option. You can find the timetables and fees by clicking here.

Compared to Havas, the local buses (IETT) are more convenient and affordable. You can go to almost any point of the city by taking thoses buses. For details of the service, you can go to this web site.

If you are in a hurry, you might consider taking a taxi from the airport. However, keep in mind that as demand approaches the capacity of the roads during the day, extreme traffic congestion sets in. We would advice you not to use a taxi after 8 A.M. until 9 P.M. Instead, Metro would be a better choice.

The airport is at the end of the M1 Metro line. There is a dedicated at the airport and runs to the city centre. For more information, maps and service hours, click here.
